December was cooler than average(-1.3°C)  but precipitation was higher than average (+24mm)

November 2003

November was slightly cooler than the average (-0.9°C) and drier than, average (-5mm), although it rained on 17 days.

There was one day of frost but no extreme conditions.

October was both drier and cooler than average. There were two days of frost but no extreme conditions.

September 2003
September was exceptionally dry precipitation being 119 mm less than average and slightly cooler, -1.4 °C. There were no extreme weather conditions of any sort.

August 2003
Temperatures during the first two weeks of  the month were higher (+1.75° C ) than the average but the latter two weeks were  lower than average so that overall the month was cooler (-1.2 °C) than average. Precipitation for the month was much lower than average (-0.9 inches), only 1.5mm of rain fell during the first 27 days of the month but 23 mm  fell during the 24 hours from 9.00am on 28th August.

Temperatures for the month were virtually at the average but July was slightly wetter than usual (+0.2 inches)

June2003

June was slightly cooler (-2.9° C) but precipitation was equivalent to the average.  There where no extreme events apart from two electrical storms during the nights of 21st and 22nd..

May 2003

May was both cooler (-2.9° C) and drier (-0.8 inches)  than average.  There where no extreme conditions nor frosts in the month. The last. The last week of the month was particularly fine with  maximum daily temperatures in the last three days of 29° C

April 2003

April proved to be  warmer  (+1.4C) and drier (-1.1 inches) than average. The first two weeks of the month there cold with three days of frost and a short period of very light snow flurries on 9th April at 8:00am.and no significant rainfall. The second half of the month was warmer the maximum temperature reaching 30 C on April 17th during a prolonged period of high pressure giving a period of exceptionally fine weather during the ten days leading up to Easter.  The last week of the month was cooler and accounted for nearly all of the month's rainfall during the passage of a succession of Atlantic low pressure systems.

March 2003

 March was a little cooler -1.0C and drier (-1.3 inches) than average with only three nights of frost. The last two weeks of the moth were exceptionally dry with no significant rain and mostly were sunny with limited cloud cover.  The hottest day of the year to date occurred on Thursday 27th -max temperature 21C and a daily mean of 14.5C. There were no extreme weather events and only one day with fog - early am.

February 2003

Overall February was cooler -3.5C and drier (-1.1 inches) than average with ten nights of frost. There were no extreme weather events and very little mist or fog.

January 2003

The first half of the month was drier and colder than usual whilst the second half of the month was wetter but still cooler than normal. The Mill Pond froze for three days in the second week of the month.  Overall January was 1.6C colder than average but very slightly 1.3mm) wetter. There were three days with brief and insignificant snow flurries and 11 nights with frost.
